Library / Media Center

There are three library/media center locations serving Jr. Kindergarten through 12 grade at CA. Librarian Hannah Irish oversees all three centers with the assistance of Kari Robinson at the Upper School and Katie Hixson as the computer teacher at the Lower School and Spring Hill campus. In the new world of libraries, CA offers the conventional library enhanced with new technology. Each library location includes hardcover books, ebooks and desktop computers. The Lonnie Lee Safley Memorial Library is located in Vest Hall and serves grades Jr. K-6 grades. Classes are available for Kindergarten – 6th grades. Kindergarten meets once a week for book checkout and a story.  Grades 1-6 meet for a 45 minute class for library lessons that include story time, book reviews, author and illustrator studies, library skill lessons, Accelerated Reader quizzing plus book checkout. Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten meet with the Librarian for a story once each day during the TLC program (click here for more info on TLC). There is open checkout time from 7:45-8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. All Lower School grades also meet for computer instruction once a week with our computer teacher.

The Spring Hill Campus library serves Jr. K-4th grades. The Librarian works at the Spring Hill campus two mornings a week. Jr. K meets once a week for 30 minutes for story time and computer class. Kindergarten-4th grade meet once a week for a 45 minute class for library lessons that include story time, book reviews, author and illustrator studies, library skill lessons and computer class time with our computer teacher.

The Glenn H. Stephenson Memorial Library, a division of the CA Library Media Center, is located in Polk Hall. The Library Assistant manages the collection for grades 7-12, which is overseen by the Librarian. The library is open from 7:30-3:15 daily for book checkout and research. The library houses several PCs, a printer, docking stations and portable keyboards for the iPad. All students in grades 7-12 use an iPad for their daily notes and research in addition to many learning applications that supplement their curriculum (click here for more info on the iPad initiative at CA).
